Job summary

This isan exciting time to join our expandingChildren and Young PeoplesServices. We are looking to recruit ahighly motivated, innovative andenthusiastic Art Psychotherapist for sessional part time hours.

Main duties of the job

You will be a part of our Children and Young People (CYP) Services and will work to support the newly established Mental Health Hubs in Westminster. This will involve working within community-based youth settings, such as after school clubs and youth clubs to embed Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health activities and events in the annual calendar and support young people aged 11-25. You will do so by providing art therapy as a mental health intervention.

The aims of the Mental Health Hubs are to meet identified needs and gaps in mental health provision within Westminster and to promote a culture that is supportive of Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health for all stakeholders.

You will deliver high-quality patient-focused care to children and young people(CYP)within the boroughs of Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea. You will offer1:1 and group art therapy to CYPaccessing our earlyintervention and prevention Mental Health Hubs acrossvarious locations within Westminster and Kensington & Chelsea, GreatWestern Studios and Head Office at 23 Monck Street, SW1P 2AU.

Experience

Essential

Demonstrate direct clinical experience (providing assessment and developing treatment plans) delivering art therapy interventions for children and young people Experience of routine clinical outcome monitoring Experience of managing clinical risk assessment Experience engaging a range of stakeholders (young people, families, mental health providers, schools, Local Authority staff etc.) Experience working in a multi-disciplinary mental health team Experience working in educational settings Experience of using Microsoft Office package

Desirable

Experience using IAPTUS CYP data management system and reporting into NHS Data Set Post-qualification experience of autonomous working with a relevant client group both in groups and individually Experience of working with CYP with SEND aged 5-18 with mental health difficulties Experience of assessing individuals for an arts therapy and making recommendations to MDT Experience supervising safeguarding cases

Skills and aptitude

Essential

Excellent leadership, problem-solving and communication skills Skills in planning, organising, time management and prioritising own workload and working autonomously Skills in assessing individuals for arts therapy balancing risk with client needs and service priorities Skills in applying art therapy theories to work with individuals, groups and organisation Evidence of continuing professional development as required by HCPC/BACP Ability to work with people with complex and multi-layered needs Ability to work with non-verbal individuals, adapting to their preferred communication styles Alignment to BWW Minds values Ability to build constructive relationships with warmth and empathy, using good communication skills Computer literacy and high standard of documented communication skills including the ability to produce reports detailing progress of therapy, selecting relevant information from sessions and expressing analytical detail without bias

Knowledge

Essential

Knowledge of systemic, cognitive-behavioural and psychodynamic theories and when each is appropriate for clinical intervention Knowledge of evidence-based practice, clinical governance and related knowledge for research and audit Highly developed knowledge of child and adult safeguarding

Desirable

Awareness of working with cultural competence and of equality and diversity issues relevant to the local population Knowledge of coproduction in models of service development Supervising arts therapists (trainee or qualified)

Qualifications

Essential

Registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) or British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) as an Art Therapist MA/MSc or equivalent in Art Therapy

Desirable

Clinical supervision training Cultural awareness training Other related academic qualifications
