You will work in the Getting More Help team to deliver a high quality, comprehensive mental health service for children, young people and their families, who are experiencing mental health difficulties.

Main duties of the job

The Getting More Help service offers support to young people with moderate to severe mental health conditions. 

As a Mental Health Practitioner you will be responsible for initial assessment, delivery and evaluation of care and provide psycho-educational advice and practical support to young people and their families by drawing on evidence- based interventions and using a collaborative, recovery focused approach. Risk assessment and management including the need for positive risk taking is an important part of the role.

You will have the opportunity to make an active and meaningful contribution to the team and participate in the team service development and evaluation. Alongside liaison, advice and consultation with wider CAMHS, colleagues in Children Services and a range of external agencies such as Children’s Social Care, Education, Youth Offending Services and Police is central to the role.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

You will be required to participate in a flexible working pattern within the multi-disciplinary team to provide cover for a core day 8am-8pm Monday-Friday and 10am-6pm Saturday –Sunday and Bank Holidays.

You will be included in supporting the liaison provision at the local district general hospitals.

CAMHS Experience All new starters have a 6 month probationary period. This, together with the induction process, aims to create a positive supportive working environment allowing new employees to learn key elements of their role over a reasonable timescale Candidates not currently employed by the Trust who attend an interview for non-qualified Band 1-5 posts are required to undertake numeracy and literacy assessments. Appointment to this post is subject to the trust receiving satisfactory references covering 3 years of employment or study. Please ask your referees to respond promptly to reference requests.
