The setting is a dedicated and inclusive SEN secondary school committed to providing a nurturing and supportive environment for students between 11 and 16 with a range of learning difficulties. Our team is passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of our students, and we are looking for a like-minded individual to join us as a Teaching Assistant specialising in supporting students with Autism, MLD to PMLD and physical disabilities.

The Role

We are seeking a compassionate, patient, and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work closely with our students who have Moderate to Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties. You will be responsible for providing personalised support, helping students with their learning, social, and personal development. This role involves working collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and other support staff to create a safe and stimulating learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with Special Educational Needs (SEN), adapting learning materials and resources to meet individual needs.
  • Assist in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and support strategies tailored to each student's abilities and goals.
  • Support students with their physical and emotional well-being, including assisting with personal care and mobility where necessary.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, encouraging student engagement and participation.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals to monitor and record student progress, contributing to assessment and review processes.
  • Help to manage classroom behavior and ensure a safe, respectful learning space for all students.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience: Experience in a similar school setting is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Ability to adapt quickly to the needs of different students.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of the specific needs and challenges faced by students with Special Educational Needs.
  • Qualifications: A relevant qualification in education, childcare, or SEN support is preferred, but we also value experience and passion for the role.
  • Personal Attributes: Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the development of children with complex needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
