Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager to join our Elective and Emergency surgical patients on our busy Surgical Ward

You will be a highly skilled nurse with excellent clinical knowledge. You will demonstrate excellent care and a clear understanding of how the Trust values translate to our everyday practice.

We are committed to working toward improving patient experience and welcome applicants who can demonstrate positive achievements in patient care.

The role is for full time hours worked in line with the demands of the ward. The ability to be flexible is a must as you will be required to work flexibly over the seven day a week including nights.

Person Specification

Qualifications, Specific Experience & Training

Essential

1st Level Registered Nurse (relevant to area of work) Relevant diploma / degree or due for completion within 12 months Minimum of three years post-registration experience of which two years should be at Primary Nurse or equivalent

Desirable

Management qualification Recognised teaching qualification

Knowledge and Skills

Essential

Evidence of an initiative which has changed or enhanced clinical practice Competent in organising own work load and that of others Good problem solving abilities Awareness of Health Policies and the changing NHS environment Able to support and advise the team Act as a positive role model Relevant Clinical knowledge/experience of the speciality

Able to deal with conflict Evidence of ability to act as a preceptor/mentor to new staff Student nurse assessor Evidence of involvement in producing teaching strategies/packages
