This is a full-time position starting in October and continuing until the end of the academic year, with the potential for the role to become permanent depending on performance. The role offers a competitive weekly salary of £419.25 to £500.

As an English Graduate Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting the English department, helping students to develop their language and literary skills. • Classroom Assistance: Work closely with the class teacher to facilitate lessons, ensuring that students are engaged and actively participating. You will help create an inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students can thrive.

  • Literacy Intervention: Lead or assist in delivering literacy intervention sessions, focusing on students who may need additional help in English. These sessions will aim to reinforce key concepts, address areas of difficulty, and enhance students’ overall literacy.

  • Resource Preparation: Assist in preparing teaching materials and resources that support the delivery of English lessons. This may include creating worksheets, sourcing relevant texts, and organizing classroom activities that stimulate learning.

  • Progress Monitoring: Keep detailed records of student progress, providing feedback to the class teacher and contributing to the development of personalized learning plans. Your observations will help identify students who require further support or challenge.

  • Mentoring: Serve as a mentor and role model to students, fostering a positive attitude towards English and encouraging a love of reading and writing. You will support students in their academic and personal development, helping them to achieve their potential.

  • Collaboration: Work collaboratively with English teachers and other staff members to ensure that all students receive the support they need. You will be an essential part of the English department, contributing to the success of the team.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A recent English graduate with a strong academic background and a passion for literature and language.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students in the subject.
  • A patient and empathetic approach, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and help them overcome challenges in learning.
  • A proactive and organized individual who is eager to contribute to the department and the wider school community.
  • Previous experience working with young people, particularly in an educational setting, is desirable but not essential.

This role offers a fantastic opportunity for an English graduate to gain hands-on experience in a supportive and dynamic school environment.
