The RHRU Psychology Service operates within a highly integrative and interdisciplinary model of goal-orientated rehabilitation working collaboratively alongside patients, families and health and social care professionals including over a 100-strong team of doctors, nurses and allied health professionals. Specifically, the post holder will:

·Ensure the systematic provision of a high quality practitioner psychology service within the highly specialised field of neuro-rehabilitation, across all facets of the service offered by the Regional Hyperacute Rehabilitation Unit.

·To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the team, and to ensure that systems are in place and working effectively for the clinical and professional supervision and support of all psychologists within the team for which the post-holder has designated responsibility. This includes clear systems for the effective recruitment, professional appraisal and the identification of CPD needs across the service.

·The post holder is expected to act as a highly specialist resource to the wider professional community, and in this context to propose or implement audit, policy and service developments.

Education/qualifications

Essential criteria

Post graduate doctoral level training (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) in Clinical or counselling Psychology as accredited by the BPS and eligible for BPS chartered psychology status Registered with HCPC as a practitioner psychologist

Significant experience of working as a qualified clinical psychologist within the specialty of neuro rehabilitation Extensive experience of teaching, training and clinical supervision
