Main duties of the job

An exciting opportunity has become available for a Renal Coordinator to join the well established Non-Emergency Patient Transport Services team at Coventry PTS.

The successful applicant will assist the AreaManager in the efficient and effective Operational delivery of the contract maintainingstrong communications with all Renal Units.

Applicants must have a minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above including English along with an NVQ Level 3 qualification (or equivalent) and must be willing to undertake any training as required for the fulfilment of the duties of the post.

Job description

Job responsibilities

Ensures that theoperational resources, staff and vehicles, operating out of the locality meetthe levels as determined by the Operations Centre. Reporting variances that occur withrecommendations to address shortfalls.

Ensures that maintenance of the requiredlevel of consumables/equipment to maintain the operational locality viability.

Occasionally, on the instruction of the PTSOperations Manager, assess a patients mobility to ensure that the correct modeof transport is provided.

Bring to managements attention areas ofwork, including patient care, where further risk assessments are required.

Attend meetings as requested and undertakeaction points where necessary.

Ensures the accurate maintenance of allrecords as required by the Service.

Monitors the performance of OperationalStaff in the delivery of the Contract, apply corrective action measures andrecommending further action, if appropriate.

Deal with complaints from patients, membersof the public and staff when required.

Maintain and update personal files for newand existing staff and assist with the Induction of new staff.

Check driving licences for all members ofstaff on a yearly basis.

Process annual leave requests for members ofstaff.

Monitor staff sickness, conduct Return ToWork Interviews and Sickness Counsellings when necessary.

Ensure staffs record of timekeeping andpayments are correct.

Conduct Vehicle Accident Panel Interviews.

Where appropriate, ensure that clinical wasteis tagged and bagged ready for collection and disposal.

Produce monthly Quality Information for theattention of the PTS Operations Manager.

In liaison with the Operations Centre and theLiaison Assistants, ensures the most effective deployment of localityresources.

Ensures adherence to the Code of Conduct,Operational Instructions, WMAS Quality Procedures.

Participation, either as a solo or as part ofa crew, in the provision of care, assistance and support as appropriate topatients with impaired mobility or any other physical or mental handicap.

The lifting and carrying of patients, ,up and down stairs, in and out of their homes, to and from the Ambulance andthe loading of patients in and out of the Ambulance using stretchers or otherlifting devices.

The transfer of patients from bed tostretcher, or chair to chair, or similar, both within and out of hospitals.

Effective use of equipment supplied to offertreatment appropriate to the patients need, and the individuals level oftraining, using techniques or skills as necessary. To include the administration of oxygen and analgesicto patients in line with the West Midlands Ambulance Service protocols.

Ensure patients have a safe, smooth journey,complying with all relevant traffic legislations and driving with considerationfor other road users.

The handing over of patients to appropriatestaff on arrival at treatment centres and responsible relatives upon returnhome, or ensuring, as far as is practical, the safety, comfort and well-beingof persons living alone.

Ensure that patients belongings, valuablesand medication, where appropriate, arelooked after and handed over to a responsible person as far as is practicable.

Undertake the transport of babies inincubators under the supervision of a qualified person.

Liaisewith the PTS Operations Centre in relation to route planning and any on the daychanges/alterations to patients journeys.This may be by the use of radio or electrical data transfer.

Ensure that vehicles under their controlattend for service and MOT. Also ensurethat drivers Defective Vehicle Reports are actioned.

Maintainand update personal files for new and existing staff
