Junior CAD Assistant

FDS Contracting Ltd is a leading provider of smoke control & fire detection systems for the fire safety industry. Delivering turnkey project solutions to the residential and commercial construction industry.

We are looking for a Junior CAD Assistant to support the System Designers with the production of Smoke Control and Fire Detection Designs. This will cover all areas from initial concept through to final delivery of designs, and supporting the designers throughout the process.

The role requires experience in the use of CAD software, preferably AutoCAD 2D, and an understanding of basic electrical & mechanical engineering principles would be advantageous but not a necessity. You would be required to work under instruction and supervision from more senior design staff. To have a positive attitude towards learning and developing relevant knowledge and skills relating to systems design.

Good organisational skills are essential along with clear & concise communication skills in both oral and written areas. The candidate should be a team player and be prepared to support numerous stakeholders to the best of their ability.

Located at our office in Greenhithe, near Dartford in Kent, we work predominantly in London and the Southeast. The role is a full-time position based at the company office with immediate start. Candidates wishing to apply must be UK based, within reasonable commute of the office location, and available for start after working through normal notice periods.

• Undertake CAD drawing work as instructed by more senior design team staff.
• Assist more senior design team staff with all aspects of the System Designs for the project duration.
• Undertake any relevant business duties or activities as required.

Requirements

Knowledge and experience of:

• 2D CAD design software.
• Good communication skills, both written & oral.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Windows environment and Office products (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Qualifications

• GCSE Maths, English & relevant STEM subjects
