About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you’ll step in to cover lessons in the absence of the regular classroom teacher, making sure students remain focused, engaged, and productive throughout their lessons. You’ll play a vital role in supporting the continuity of students’ education and maintaining a positive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities of the Cover Supervisor:

  • Supervise students during lessons in the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring that all work is completed.
  • Manage classroom behavior in accordance with school policies to ensure a positive and respectful learning environment.
  • Offer support to students as needed, helping them engage with their tasks and ensuring they stay on track.
  • Report any behavioral or academic issues to the school leadership team, maintaining high standards.
  • Provide assistance with classroom activities, ensuring students are productive and focused on the set work.
  • Assist with any administrative tasks related to the lesson, such as collecting and distributing materials.

Requirements of the Cover Supervisor:

  • A confident and proactive approach to classroom management.
  • Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or in a similar role is desirable but not essential.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and inspire students.
  • The ability to adapt quickly to various subjects and classroom environments.
  • A positive attitude with a strong focus on supporting students and ensuring their success.
  • Excellent organisational skills and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.

To work with GSL Education you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV and two relevant references from within the last two years.
  • Have an Enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be happy to apply for one with GSL Education.
