Domain Quality Manager

Are you an impactful Quality Manager / Head of Quality with experience leading and managing a team of professionals working within an engineering or defence environment?

We have a fantastic opportunity for a Domain Quality Manager to join our Intelligence Surveillance Reconnaissance (ISR) business domain in Crawley. 

What the role has to offer:

Opportunity to lead Quality Assurance across the ISR business

Functional line management of a team of up to 10 direct reports

Key member of the ISR leadership team, helping achieve customer excellence and driving continuous improvement, governance & assurance across our complex engineering programmes

Hybrid role based out of the Crawley site (min 3 days per week)

Key responsibilities

Reporting to the Defence UK Head of Quality, on a day-to-day basis, you’ll be involved in:

Managing and leading the team to deliver all aspects of quality assurance within bids, projects, design and development lifecycles, system validation, supply chain, manufacturing & customer acceptance across all programmes

Leading the team to drive consistent application of governance to assure quality within gates, milestones and lifecycle events including those attended by the customer (both on and off site)

Representing QA within the senior leadership reviews, presenting material as appropriate to meet the needs of the business and functional strategy

Ensuring functional attendance at formal project reviews and the infeed of independent quality reporting to the senior programme stakeholders

Ensuring customer requirements are embedded and delivered and that the customer is represented at all times

Driving QA forward within the domain, delivering a strategy/roadmap to achieve continuous improvement

Ensuring that the team can deliver its objectives, that suitable skills and capabilities are in place, that talent is developed and that resource is appropriately allocated

About you

Ideally, you’ll:

Have experience operating in a Quality Management leadership role in a complex project/engineering environment

Have proven people management experience including leading, motivating and developing a team of professionals

Experience of working in a fast paced design and development/engineering environment

Proven ability to instigate and drive effective change

Demonstrable ability in influencing key stakeholders and getting buy-in to the quality vision

Experience of budget setting, monitoring and reporting

Related Professional Qualification and Membership of Associations
