Senior VMware Infrastructure Engineer

The role

As a Senior Engineer, you will be instrumental in supporting ANS' VMware-based cloud infrastructure. Your primary responsibility will be to maintain the operational availability of essential elements within the eCloud platform, encompassing virtualization, computing hardware, and storage solutions. Collaborating with the broader infrastructure team, you will ensure the environment remains current through regular patching and firmware updates, while also coordinating with vendors to guarantee compatibility and support.

Furthermore, you will serve as a vital escalation contact, offering your VMware, Cisco UCS, and SAN storage expertise not only within the infrastructure team but also to other technical divisions. Working in tandem with the Infrastructure Technical and Team Leads, you will be a key contributor to the execution of our product roadmap and the ongoing enhancement program.

What will I be doing?

Be an escalation point and mentor for more junior team members and the support teamsTake lead on large scale infrastructure projects working through design, implementation, testing and completionProactively work to identify and drive areas of improvement in the platformProduce and maintain high quality technical documentationWorking with vendors to raise escalations and troubleshoot issuesUndertake regular security reviews of the platformEnsure security governance if consistently met and adhered toLimited volumes of out-of-hours work on core systems outside of core business hours.

What does success look like?

Working with the infrastructure team to achieve 100% platform uptimeHit customer response SLAs

What will I bring to the role?

Previous experience as an infrastructure engineer working in a large scale enterprise or multi-tenant environmentExperience with VMware 7.0 (Experience with hosting provider specific technologies like Auto deploy or VVOLs is a bonus)Operational experience of NSX 3.0+Scripting abilities in Powershell and PowerCLIExperience with Cisco UCS or other enterprise blade systemsExperience with Storage Technologies (HPE 3PAR, Nimble, Dell CompellentExperience with DR technologies such as Veeam and Zerto“Can do” attitude with the desire to find solutions to any problem which presents itself.Willingness to undertake out of hours work where required

Please note: You will need to be eligible for Security Clearance for this position. This requires 5 years of UK addresses.
