The Role
As senior FX Artists, the job involves creating realistic simulations for particles, rigid bodies, fluids, cloth, fur, and hair using tools like Houdini and Maya. We focus on applying lighting and shaders to enhance these effects, collaborating closely with Lighting Technical Directors to refine the final look. Our work requires constant coordination with other departments to ensure that every shot fits seamlessly into the broader project. We regularly discuss and strategize within our team to solve creative challenges, aiming to deliver effects that exceed expectations.

Designing and creating images, elements, effects, pipelines, tools and techniquesHelping to design solutions involving a more procedural approach in order to create the effects requiredProducing reviewable composites of all FX elements for a shot. Sometimes FX TDs will be expected to produce final renders tooAn excellent knowledge of HoudiniPrevious experience working at a Senior level Previous experience producing effects such as smoke, fire, clouds, water, steam and explosions in addition to simulation techniques for rigid-bodies, cloth and hairA good understanding of animation and an eye for motion Desirable Experience
A familiarity with pipeline issues, especially working between multiple packagesKnowledge of the Houdini HDK and Strong Vex, hscript, python and/or Mel scripting skillsExperience with other render packages and Nuke
