Job summary

We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and highly motivated nurse, with a passion for learning and professional development, to join our growing and forward-thinking team.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right clinician to help shape and support our future workforce, promoting the continuous professional development, identification of training needs and training solutions for all student and staff groups within the In-Patient Unit working in partnership with educational lead colleagues across all clinical teams

Previous palliative care experience would be desirable but not essential, and less than full time hours would be considered for the right person.

Main duties of the job

We need someone who can confidently create, support, and maintain a learning culture that is open to change, new concepts and innovation, supporting Trinitys overall workforce development, strategy, and direction. They must have an avid interest in promoting a culture of continuous professional learning and development to help develop our teams and equip them with the skills needed to deliver on the future projected specialist palliative care needs for our Fylde Coast population.

You will need to have excellent communication skills and be competent in working across the wider multi-disciplinary team.

We have been innovative in creating new links with universities, enabling us to develop new roles that help sustain our future workforce and the role will work closely with our other department education leads in identifying training needs and solutions for all staff groups across our clinical services.

Job responsibilities

OVERALL PURPOSE:

To promote the continuous professionaldevelopment, identification of training needs and training solutions for allstudent and staff groups within the In-Patient Unit working in partnership witheducational lead colleagues across all clinical teams.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

To develop andmaintain a clinical competency framework for all clinical roles

Develop inpartnership with clinical colleagues and education leads, a training strategyacross the department to champion a learning culture.

To work alongsideclinical staff to assess quality measures and technical skills, being visibleon the ward throughout the week, leading by example in the promotion of highstandards of clinical treatment and nursing care.

To oversee theinduction and training of new starters

To supportclinical placements, arranging induction programs, taking responsibility forthe support and evaluation of students and other professional placements

To overseecompliance with mandatory training

To overseePreceptorship program.

To ensuresufficient and competent Practice Assessors and Supervisors.

To Support the rollout of resilience-based supervision for all clinical staff.

To network withexternal educational institutions

To supportclinical career and recruitment initiatives

To support thedevelopment of Apprenticeship roles Nursing Associates and RegisteredNursing Degree Apprentices

To develop andfacilitate technical competency days to ensure the staff have the correctskills base required for their roles

To ensuresufficient and competent mandatory skills-based learning facilitators.

To develop staffand student competencies in line with evidence-based practice

To support staffwith revalidation.

To support thedevelopment and implementation of action plans to meet identified trainingneeds during PDR process

To support staffwho are underperforming in partnership with clinical managers and Sisterssupporting the development of clear improvement objectives to improveperformance and be responsible for providing clinical feedback on progress againstset objectives.

To support thefacilitation of Sage and Thyme training and Advanced Communication Skills.

To participate inteaching and training internally and to external agencies/partners

CLINICAL LEAD ROLE

To contribute tostrategic clinical workforce development planning.

To represent theorganisation at strategic education groups across the locality

To liaise withexternal providers to support applications and to enable funding opportunities.

To develop andlead the productive ward model to drive up efficiency and quality standards

To lead thesymptom management portfolio and health care certificate education program

To Chairquarterly organisational training and education meetings

To support theFylde Coast strategy for palliative care education

To supportclinical governance processes and clinical incident investigations and reviewsas needed.

To participate inreviews and support learning from clinical incidents.

To participate inthe development and review of relevant learning and education policies

To audit againstnational benchmarks and undertake ad-hoc audits to demonstrate compliance withclinical and technical procedures

To work acrossthe multidisciplinary team to support the development of education resources ata local level, facilitating teaching on the rolling program

To identify andparticipate in quality improvement projects

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

To maintainprofessional registration in line with NMC requirements for revalidation

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

Registered Nurse current NMC pin Relevant degree /diploma Evidence of implementation of a range of practice development initiatives Experience of providing mentorship and practice supervision/ assessment with students in clinical practice

Desirable

PGCE or other Teaching / educational qualification

Skills and Abilities

Essential

Proven leadership skills Proven teaching and facilitation skills Ability to work as part of multi professional team and on own initiative Good communication skills verbal and written Working knowledge of Care Quality Commission Regulations, Mental Capacity Act, Health and Safety, Safeguarding and all other relevant legislation and policies Demonstrable knowledge of issues within nursing and the quality agenda IT skills. Demonstrate ability to compile reports from information and deliver presentations Ability to communicate within the multidisciplinary team and effectively with patients Maintain quality care by monitoring the competency of self and nursing team members

Experience

Minimum 3 years as a Registered Nurse Education, training, and assessment of student nurses Computer literacy Experience in providing constructive suggestions and support for service improvement Experience in chairing meetings Experience in organising clinical training in an effective and organised way

Desirable

Management training Coaching and mentorship training. Experience in developing new role- , Nurse Associate Ward management
