An opportunity has arisen within the liver and HPB dietetic team for a Band 7 permanent WTE position. We are looking for a dynamic, driven and enthusiastic dietitian with liver or hepatobiliary surgery experience to work in a busy acute setting at King's College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.
Working alongside the other dietitians you will be responsible for providing the dietetic input to the Hepatobiliary (HPB) inpatient and Liver Unit at King's College Hospital. King's is the specialist centre for Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic (HPB) surgery for patients in South East London and Kent. Kings College Hospital is one of the largest liver transplant services in the UK providing hepatology services to patients from around London and the south and beyond.
This exciting position is within the Liver & HPB dietetic team of Band 7 and Band 6 dietitians that deliver an in and outpatient service to the internationally recognised Hepatology and Liver Transplant Unit.
Main duties of the job
As well as inpatient post-surgical nutritional support for pancreatic and liver surgeries, general hepatology, the role will involve complex patient management and MDT working, liver transplant assessments and post liver transplant reviews. You will also be responsible for hepatology and HPB outpatient clinics. The role sits within the adult acute dietetic team at King's, so there will be an opportunity to also provide cover to the wider acute services. Kings dietetics covers a large range of different specialities including gastroenterology, haematology, neurology, ITU, diabetes, renal, cystic fibrosis and paediatrics so there will be opportunities to gain insight into other areas of dietetics.
You should have strong leadership and negotiation skills and be flexible to the fluctuating requirements of the service.

We are proud to be a part of Kings Health Partners, one of only five Academic Health Sciences Centres in the country. This means that we work in closer partnership with our dietetic colleagues at Guys & St Thomas, South London and Maudsley and the academic department at Kings College London. The department is involved with student training and accepts students on placements 1, 2 and 3. The post holder would be expected to be involved in student training.
There are over 50 dietetic staff in the department across Denmark Hill and PRUH sites and there are many opportunities for clinical supervision, both within the acute team and the dietetic department at large.
