An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Manager in one of our Family Support and Safeguarding teams within North Somerset.

About the role

Our Family Support and Safeguarding Teams are established teams of senior social workers, social workers and family support workers who, together, provide valuable and effective and targeted social work assessment, interventions and support to achieve change and positive outcomes for children and young people.

You will line manage approx. 6 social workers, caseloads are low, with the average being 18 children with our goal being 15 per social worker. Learning and development opportunities across the career pathway are excellent and we will invest in our teams, so you can deliver excellent support with a clear focus on creative support and focus on keeping children with their families.

We are looking to offer an opportunity to a suitably experienced or aspirant team manager who is passionate about the work, confident in managing and developing performance with a strong focus on collaborative Quality Assurance activities to be able to lead and develop the work of the team. Those interested will show leadership qualities that promote our chosen practice approach of Signs of Safety as their approach to practice, promoting strengths based social work practice and the values and practice principles that underpin this. We would welcome those already trained in this approach as well as those who would like to be trained.

The post holder will be responsible for carrying out the day-to-day management of family support and safeguarding which includes assessment and support for children in need, child protection, pre-proceedings, care proceedings and adoption work. You will be social work qualified, have experiences of supervising and leading staff, enthusiastic, ambitious and knowledgeable and able to take a key role in planning and improving services.

There are 6 Family Support and Safeguarding Teams and you will have the support of an effective team of established, experienced managers who work together to provide high quality safeguarding and support across the North Somerset.

This position is exempt under the provisions of the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975 and is subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.

A valid driving licence and own transport, or be able to provide alternative, suitable method of travel is an essential condition for this role.

About you

You will take responsibility for the standards across the team, providing effective management and leadership to ensure that the service provided to children, young people and their families is of the highest quality.

You will also support the development of ASYE’s throughout their first year in their career.
