An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen within UCH Medical Specialties to appoint an 18 month secondment Deputy Matron at Band 8a. This post will provide support and to deputise for the Divisional Matron in the leadership of the nursing teams, setting clinical standards and ensuring the delivery of quality care across the inpatient wards of Medical Specialties.

Working with the current Matron this role will be pivotal in supporting the Clinical Governance and audit lead for the Hospital to co-ordinate all aspects of clinical governance, risk management, investigating incidents, patient safety and promote a culture of learning and improvement for all clinical staff.

Main duties of the job

The expectation for this role is to be an integral part of the Medical Specialties Management Team facilitating, developing and co-ordinating clinical risk management within the Division and ensuring change of practice is consistent. This includes the completion of audits, involvement in Root cause analysis and providing written evidence to support Clinical governance changes in practice.

We are looking for a highly self -motivated individual who is able to plan and organise their own workload without supervision and make decisions independently. The applicant must have significant experience in leading and managing nursing / clinical teams must have excellent communication skills, leadership skills, be innovative and demonstrates continued academic development essential for the role.
