Connex Education is working with a Secondary School in the Middlesbrough area who are looking for a Pastoral Coordinator to work within their inclusion team. The role is 8:00am until 4:00pm Monday to Friday during term time only.

The school is well established mainstream secondary school within the Middlesbrough area. The inclusion team are a hard working team who are looking for someone to join them from September. 

Assignment Details

Connex Education is seeking a dedicated Student Support Coordinator to oversee the academic progress, behavior, and well-being of students within an assigned year group. This role involves close collaboration with various departments and external agencies to ensure comprehensive support for students and their families.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and track student performance, behavior, and attendance using educational management systems.
• Develop and implement targeted intervention strategies in partnership with the Inclusion Team and senior leadership.
• Participate in student support meetings, including Pastoral Support Plans and multi-agency conferences.
• Document and report on safeguarding incidents, preparing detailed reports for relevant stakeholders.
• Coordinate with the Expectations for Learning team on disciplinary matters, including exclusions and readmission processes.
• Assist in organizing and supervising extracurricular activities, school events, and educational trips.
• Perform regular attendance audits and maintain communication with families regarding absences.
• Develop and maintain Individual Behavior Plans and Pastoral Support Plans for students requiring additional support.
• Serve as a primary point of contact between the school and parents for non-academic matters.
• Ensure compliance with child safeguarding procedures and organizational policies.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, a strong understanding of child safeguarding principles, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced educational environment. Experience in pastoral care or youth support services is highly desirable.

Person Specification

• must be 21 and over
• You must have an enhanced DBS on the update service or willing to apply for a new one
• Have experience working in a UK secondary school setting, either as a HLTA or Teaching Assistant
• Excellent role model 
• Have excellent behaviour management and classroom control skills.
