This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced leader to join our division in a senior clinical position as Senior Matron for our division.

The senior matron post holds an important professional role for the delivery of services providing strong and inspirational leadership to help influence and change the development of these services for the patients.

We are looking for a highly motivated, dynamic and passionate individual with proven leadership experience who has the energy to support and coach staff to ensure best practice across services. You will be required to be an exceptional communicator, problem solver and able to build positive and effective relationships.

Main duties of the job

You will work as an integral member of the management team to lead the development and delivery of service provision within the Division; with a strong focus on patient safety and improving patient experience. 

This post will support with patients having a seamless experience through our Urgent and Emergency care pathways. In addition we are looking to support and re-energise our workforce and have efficient processes to ensure timely emergency flow.

You will provide managerial, professional and clinical leadership to nursing and support staff, ensuring the professional contributions of these staff is maximised to achieve the Trusts objectives and strategic goals in accordance with user needs, and national and local professional standards.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

Evidence of academic pathway equivalent to Degree in Nursing or Health Related study Masters Degree in relation to health management or equivalent Professional nursing qualification Demonstration and evidence of personal professional development

Desirable criteria

Masters Degree or working toward/unit/departments Masters Degree level education Management Leadership Qualification, which has been tested in a management post

Experience

Essential criteria

Proven experience at senior nurse level and proven recent experience as Band 8a or above with highly developed and detailed knowledge and experience of the following: Current health policy and its impact on the management and development of acute health services Experience of effective budgetary management Significant experience of effective staff management Providing complex advice to specialist and non-specialist staff

Desirable criteria

Evidence of effective working relationships both inside and outside the organisation Leadership Facilitator Experience of leading strategic/cross Trust changes Experience in preparing business cases

Skills

Essential criteria

Heightened awareness of national nursing and midwifery initiatives Excellent communication skills, including the ability to liaise & negotiate Proven ability to lead teams effectively, exercising sound judgement Ability to think & plan strategically, tactically & creatively and prioritise work programmes in the face of competing demands The ability to work co-operatively with senior staff within the Trust & to develop effective working relationships across the Divisions Strong quality focus with an innovative approach & the ability to solve complex problems
