Job summary

We have a vacancy for a Locum GP post starting September 2024 for 4 - 6 sessions a week. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well established, forward thinking training practice, with emphasis on high quality family medicine with an emphasis on continuity of care.

Main duties of the job

The duties of the post are to provide a full rangeof general medical services as contained in the accordance with the associatedjob plan.

The post holder is expected to support the partnersin providing all services outlined in the GMS contract and also in the aims andobjectives of the practice.

You will be expected to support and input into theaims of the practice in areas of clinical governance, good practice, QOF,Enhanced Services, Practice Audit, referral review and any other improvementareas as determined by the practice.

You will be encouraged to utilise and develop anyskills for improvement of services to patients.

You are expected to maintain and keep goodstandards of good clinical records at all times.

Full involvement in any practice training andon-going requirements.

You are expected to maintain and keep goodstandards of paperwork.

You will be required to attend and participate inPractice Meetings.

Practitioners will be required to comply with therequirement of NHS Appraisal and re validation as may from time to time apply.

The Windrush Medical Practice sits at the edge of the Cotswolds with a practice population of over 21,100 patients. Weare a well respected, patient centred, dispensing GP practice with anoutstanding CQC rating.

Ourclinical team comprises of 15 GP's, Nurse Prescribers, Nurses, Health CareAssistants and Clinical Pharmacists and we are looking for a Locum General Practitioner to join our forward thinking team for an initial period of 3 months.

ThePractice participates in medical research projects which are vital in helpingto improve clinical care and knowledge. We are also a Postgraduate GP Trainingpractice.

Job responsibilities

Wehave a vacancy for a Locum GP post starting in September 2024 for 4 - 6 sessions aweek. This is an excellent opportunity for doctors wishing to practice highquality family medicine with an emphasis on continuity of care.

Expandingpractice currently 21,100 patients, 15 GPs.(15% dispensing)

GP owned purpose built health centre opened March 2012

Training practice with two trainers and undergraduateteaching

Engage Digital Triage led appointments system. We provide 15minute GP appointments with allocated daily admin time, using EMIS Web.

Outstanding CQCrating and100% QOF achievement 2019

We hold regular clinical meetings and run mentorscheme for those new to the practice.

SupportiveMDT with prescribing nurse/ECP led minor illness clinics and clinicalpharmacist clinics

Adjacent community hospital, minor injuries unit andradiology and Emergency Medical Unit

NHS Endoscopy, ultrasound, echocardiography on site

Significant involvement in Primary Care Research.

No out of hours commitment

Part of an active PCN with GP access hub providing a homevisiting service (Paramedic can perform urgent on the day visits)

First line management of documents is provided bytrained practice assistants to reduce GP admin, as well as a team of GPAssistants and Care co-ordinators who work alongside our GPs.

Clinical Responsibilities: -

In accordance with the Practice timetable, as agreed, the post-holder will make him/her-self available to undertake a variety of duties including surgery consultations, telephone consultations and queries, visiting patients at home, checking and signing repeat prescriptions and dealing with queries, paperwork, reports and correspondence in a timely fashion.

Making professional, autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems, whether self-referred or referred from other health care workers within the organisation.

Assessing the health care needs of patients with undifferentiated and undiagnosed problems.

Screening patients for disease risk factors and early signs of illness.

In consultation with patients and in line with current Practice disease management protocols, developing care plans for health.

Providing counselling and health education.

Recording clear and contemporaneous consultation notes to agreed standards.

Collecting data for audit purposes and complying with QOF requirements.

Delivering enhanced services.

Compiling and issuing computer-generated acute and repeat prescriptions.

Prescribing in accordance with the Practice prescribing formulary (or generically) whenever this is clinically appropriate
