We have an amazing opportunity for a talented and experienced Mid-Level VFX Artist to join our passionate and creative team. If you are a VFX artist with a strong artistic and technical background, ready to contribute to exciting game projects, we'd love to hear from you.

You’ll create stunning visual effects that enhance the overall quality and immersion of our games. You will work closely with the Principal VFX Artist, art and design teams to bring our game worlds to life through various visual effects, from environmental effects to character abilities. Your creativity and technical expertise will play a vital role in the success of our games.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, create, and implement a wide range of visual effects, including but not limited to environmental effects, character abilities, and dynamic weather effects.
  • Maintain a high level of artistic quality and ensure that VFX align with the visual style and creative vision of the game.
  • Collaborate with technical artists and engineers to integrate VFX into the game engine, optimising for performance and aesthetics.
  • Implement VFX assets into game levels, scenes, and animations, ensuring they function as intended and respond to in-game events.
  • Actively participate in the feedback loop, making revisions and improvements based on feedback from the art and design teams, and QA.
  • Create and maintain clear and organised documentation for VFX assets, workflows, and best practices.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and techniques related to VFX in game development and incorporate innovative solutions into projects.
  • Collaborate with artists, designers, and other team members to ensure VFX integrates seamlessly into the game world and storytelling.

Requirements

What you'll need to smash this role;

  • Proven experience as a VFX Artist in the game development industry.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing a range of VFX work in various styles and contexts.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard software such as Adobe After Effects, Maya, 3ds Max, Houdini, EmberGen or other VFX tools.
  • Knowledge of game engines, such as Unity or Unreal Engine, and experience integrating VFX within them.
  • Strong understanding of the technical aspects of VFX, including optimization for real-time performance.
  • Passion for gaming and a deep appreciation for visual storytelling in games.
  • A love for playing and analysing games, including a critical eye for VFX in the gaming.

Bonus Points:

  • Familiarity with 3D modelling and texturing.
  • Knowledge of particle systems, simulations, and physics for VFX.
  • Familiarity with 2D and 3D art creation tools, such as Photoshop and Substance Painter.
  • Use of Unreal 5.
