This is an exciting opportunity for you to train as a Children's Wellbeing Practitioner to work with children and young people. You will embark on a fully funded Post Graduate Certificate that will help you build your skills and. You will work for a small charity where you can make a big difference. You will learn from, and work collaboratively with, colleagues involved in other disciplines supporting more systemic issues.

Fixed term contract for 12 months. Continuation of the post is subject to funding and successful passing of the course.

Main duties of the job

To work to provide community based and school based one to to one and group support for vulnerable and disadvantaged children and young people aged 5-18 and their parents who have emotional wellbeing difficulties and mental health.

Working in partnership, support children, young people experiencing mental health difficulties and their families in the self management of presenting difficulties.

Assess and deliver, under supervision, brief, outcome focused evidence-based interventions and guided self-help for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.

Select a range of appropriate therapeutic interventions for children, young people and families experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties and delivered in collaboration with the child young person and family.

Support and empower children, young people and families to make informed choices.

Attend and fulfil all the requirements of the training element of the post including practical, academic and practice based assessments.

Job responsibilities

Role Description (Main Duties andResponsibilities) 1. Working withyour Manager(s) and Team Members

Work with theChief Executive and Deputy Chief Executive Officer to ensure that they receiveappropriate advice and information on all relevant matters thus enabling themto fulfil their responsibilities, and to effectively monitor plans and targets.

Tomodel the organisations values and play a role in raising the profile of thesevalues and associated behaviours across the organisation. This includes apositive contribution to workplace harmony displaying cooperative team behaviour

2. Clinical

Assess anddeliver, under supervision outcome focused, evidence-based interventions tochildren and young people presenting with comorbidity of anxiety and mood disorders, self- harm and suicidal ideation,phobias and OCD.

Working inpartnership, support children, young people experiencing mental healthdifficulties and their families in the self-management of presentingdifficulties.

Work inpartnership with children, young people and families in the development ofplans for the intervention and agreed outcomes.

To select arange of appropriate therapeutic interventions for children, young people andfamilies experiencing mild to moderate or moderate mental health difficulties and delivered incollaboration with the child, young person andfamily using the core principles of CYP-IAPT practice along withevidence based interventions.

Support andempower children, young people and families to make informed choices about theintervention.

Operate atall times from an inclusive values base, which recognises and respectsdiversity.

Acceptreferrals within agreed national and local protocols.

Undertakesaccurate assessment of risk to self and others.

Adhere tothe service referral protocols. Under supervision signpost unsuitable referralsto the relevant service as necessary.

Throughclose case management and supervision, escalate cases where the level of needbecomes beyond scope, or more severe ensuring adherence to other relevantelements of service delivery.

3. Training andSupervision

Attend andfulfil all the requirements of the training element of the post includingpractical, academic and practice based assessments.

As well asattendance at the University for training, fulfil private study requirements toenhance learning and prepare assignments for examination, for at least one daya week

Applylearning from the training programme to practice.

Receivepractice tutoring from educational providers in relation to course work to meetthe required standards.

Prepare andpresent case load information to supervisors within the service on an agreedand scheduled basis, in order to ensure safe practice and the governanceobligations of the trainee, supervisor and service are delivered.

Respond toand implement supervision suggestions by supervisors in practice. Engage inand respond to personal development supervision to improve competences andpractice.

4. Professional

Ensure themaintenance of standards of practice according to the employer and anyregulating bodies, and keep up-to-date on new recommendations/guidelines set bythe relevant departments. Ensure thatconfidentiality is protected at all times.

Ensure clearobjectives are identified, discussed and reviewed with supervisor and seniorcolleagues on a regular basis as part of continuing professional development.

Participatein individual performance review and respond to agreed objectives.

Keep allrecords up to date in relation to Continuous Professional Development andensure personal development plans maintains up to date specialist knowledge oflatest theoretical and service delivery models/developments.

Attendrelevant conferences/workshops in line with identified professional objectives.

5. General

Support thecollection of data and facilitate data flow to the collaborative.

Contributeto the development of best practice within the service.

Ensure acomprehensive understanding of the relevant safeguarding legislation, guidanceand best practice.

Maintainup-to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and proceduresin relation to children and young peoples mental health.

Essential

Post qualification experience as practicing counsellor / psychological therapist Experience working within children and young peoples mental health service.

Desirable

Working with young people in youth work, targeted support or similar settings

Understanding of the use of service users participation and feedback and clinical outcome tools in practice

Qualifications

Essential

Undergraduate degree 2:2 or higher. Professional training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling or within a specific psychological therapy. Hold a recognised qualification in counselling or a psychological therapy.

Desirable

Psychology or other health/social care/youth related undergraduate degree 2:1 or higher.
