Job Overview: 
We are looking for a motivated and ambitious Quantity Surveyor (QS) or an Assistant Quantity Surveyor (AQS) ready to progress into a QS role. The ideal candidate will have some civil engineering experience, preferably in residential projects, and a strong willingness to learn and develop their skills in quantity surveying.

Key Responsibilities:  
  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates and budgets for residential construction projects, ensuring accuracy and compliance with financial goals. 
  • Conduct site visits as required to monitor progress, assess site conditions, and ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards. 
  • Support contract management processes, including preparing and negotiating tender documents, contracts, and variations. 
  • Prepare and submit regular financial reports reflecting project status, forecasting, and any necessary financial adjustments. 
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout project lifecycles. 
  • Actively seek opportunities to learn from experienced team members and participate in professional development activities.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:  
  • A relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field is preferred, but not essential for AQS candidates with strong experience. 
  • For QS Role: Minimum of 2 years of experience in quantity surveying, ideally within the residential or civil sectors. 
  • For AQS Role: Some experience in a similar role or a strong desire to learn, with experience in civil engineering projects. 
  • Proficient in industry-standard software (e.g., Excel, CostX, or equivalent QS tools) and familiar with relevant regulations and standards. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and team members both verbally and in writing. 
  • High level of accuracy in work and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to mitigate risks and resolve issues proactively.

Working Conditions:  
This is an office-based role located in the North West, with occasional site visits required. Office hours are 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM, with a 4:00 PM finish on Fridays. Flexibility and the ability to adapt to changing priorities are essential in this role.
