As Commercial Controller for our off-road programmes, you will partner with internal and external stakeholders to optimise our commercial performance and drive the delivery of profitable projects to budget.

This is a senior role within the Commercial team which requires a high level of independence, ownership and sound judgement. You will bring financial and operational insight and analysis to the team, and your strong customer and commercial perspective will strengthen relationships with our customers and drive efficiency, without compromising our intent and ability to win profitably.

Key responsibilities:

Sales & Aftersales

Partner on inputs to forecasting, ensuring targets are hit and sales are brought in on time and to budget. Support on completing sales and creating programmes and act as the commercial lead on all new deals, bids and tenders. Input into and challenge all strategic pricing. Co-ordinate and support pricing across the business. Partner on inputs to forecasting and achieving targets. Control the aftersales P&L – acting as the go to person to approve any non-standard transactions.

Profitability

Be the owner of the P&L, working with budget holders and using the information to drive change and decisions. Investigate and identify any misses or opportunities that arise through the year vs budget and benchmark costs internally and externally to identify improvement initiatives. Partner with the finance team to support commercial decision making and act as the expert for the Motorsport numbers.

Forecasts

Support the finance team in providing accurate and logical inputs for budgets and cashflow forecasts, and prepare a first draft high level budget for review in Motorsport.

Customer and manufacturer relationships

Work with account managers to support in resolving customer challenges and dispute resolution as required. Have a presence at customer events and own the overall relationship with existing and new customers. Be the visible number two supporting with manufacturer relationship.

Data and reporting

Provide monthly commercial reports to challenge and improve performance. Create commercial models on excel to review large volumes of data for commercial analysis. Lead risk analysis on all commercial decisions to provide foresight on decision making. Prepare templates for external reporting and work with the finance team to complete these from MI and other information. Own reporting process to the manufacturer.

Stock

Where necessary, partner with the Purchasing and Sales team to identify appropriate stocks levels, and drive programmes to reduce stock levels where appropriate.

Who are we looking for?

You will be a strong commercial partner with previous experience in a similar commercial or finance role operating at a senior level. Customer service-oriented with excellent communication skills, you will have a rigorous approach to ensure achievement of deliverables. Our ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of financial and accounting principles (CIMA or other financial qualification beneficial but not essential). You will be comfortable interrogating and presenting data and able to develop strong relationships to influence stakeholders across our operation.
