An opportunity has arisen for a Full-time Head Chef who will also manage a small team of Catering Staff which includes a Second Chef and Catering Assistant. The successful candidate must lead by example, be professional and punctual to meet the requirements of the service and the position they will hold.

You will be responsible for delivering a high quality catering service in line with Priory Policies and Procedures with a particular emphasis on the planning, preparation and cooking of meals. In addition, you will be responsible for supervising, developing and motivating the catering team, whilst ensuring compliance with Safety Legislation and Priory Policies. You will be responsible for the management of the food budget within Priory standards, including stock ordering, accurate stock accounting through stock checks and stock rotation; prepare and maintain a rolling 6 week rota plan for the department; and alongside clinical staff, create new seasonal menus (including allergen and recipe card information) as required by the needs of the patients.

The successful applicant will be educated to NVQ3 or equivalent with an Intermediate Food Safety certificate. You will also need to be IT literate as you will need to use a computer based ordering system and maintain online food safety documentation.

Priory Hospital Newbury is a Mental Health Hospital rated as outstanding by CQC. Newbury has 30 beds made up of male Recovery and Rehabilitation and mixed Acute wards. Set on the southern outskirts of Newbury. We have a full and diverse MDT including Psychology, Creative Therapists, Consultant Psychiatrists and excellent physical health care provided by a Lead Nurse and an incredible GP. There are excellent public transport links to Reading, Basingstoke and London which is just a 50 minute train journey.

The site is warm and welcoming with a homely atmosphere.
