Entry Level Autism Teaching Assistant

We are excited to offer an opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career in special education to join our team as Autism Teaching Assistant. This role is ideal for those with a passion for working with children and young people with Autism and other Special Educational Needs, offering valuable hands-on experience and training under the guidance of experienced professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide support and assistance to students with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) in classroom and educational settings, under the supervision of qualified teachers and SENCO.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies, following guidance and instructions from teaching staff.
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum, including adapting learning materials and providing additional explanations or assistance as needed.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, encouraging engagement, participation, and independence in learning activities.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to monitor student progress and contribute to the review and evaluation of support strategies.
  • Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students.

Requirements:

  • Genuine interest in working with children and young people with autism and other special educational needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with individuals who may display challenging behaviors or require additional support.
  • Willingness to learn and develop new skills, with a commitment to ongoing professional development and training.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, following instructions and contributing ideas effectively

Applicants must be willing to undergo relevant safeguarding checks, including an Enhanced DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
