Key Responsibilities:

  • Individual Support: Provide one-on-one support to a student with special educational needs, ensuring that they receive the attention and assistance required to thrive in a classroom setting. Your support will be crucial in helping the student overcome challenges and achieve their educational goals.

  • Classroom Assistance: Assist with classroom activities, including setting up and organizing materials, adapting lesson plans, and creating an inclusive learning environment. Your role will help ensure that the student can fully participate in classroom activities alongside their peers.

  • Personalized Learning Plans: Collaborate closely with teachers and SEN coordinators to develop and implement personalized learning plans tailored to the student’s specific needs. This includes setting realistic goals, modifying curriculum content, and utilizing appropriate teaching strategies.

  • Progress Monitoring: Monitor and document the student’s progress and development regularly. Provide detailed reports to teachers, SEN coordinators, and parents, highlighting achievements, areas for improvement, and any additional support required.

  • Behavioral Support: Assist in managing and addressing any behavioral issues that may arise, using positive reinforcement techniques and behavior management strategies. Your guidance will help promote a positive and productive learning environment.

  • Emotional Support: Offer emotional support and encouragement to the student, helping them build confidence, self-esteem, and social skills. Your empathetic approach will be instrumental in creating a nurturing and supportive atmosphere.

  • Resource Preparation: Prepare and utilize various educational resources, such as visual aids, interactive activities, and specialized equipment, to enhance the student’s learning experience and meet their individual needs.

Requirements:

  • SEN Experience: Proven experience working with students with special educational needs is essential. Your background in SEN education will enable you to provide effective support and adapt to the student’s unique requirements.

  • Qualifications: Relevant qualifications or training in special education are highly desirable. This includes certifications, diplomas, or degrees in SEN education, child development, or related fields.

  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills are crucial. You should be able to work collaboratively with teachers, SEN coordinators, and parents, and effectively communicate the student’s needs and progress.

  • Patience and Empathy: A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach to working with students is vital. You should be compassionate and understanding, with the ability to build positive relationships and provide consistent support.

  • Adaptability: Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and the student’s evolving needs. You should be resourceful and creative in finding solutions to challenges that may arise.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
