Job summary

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated ClinicalPsychologist to join our multi agency Neurodevelopmental Assessment Teams on afull-time basis. The team currently offers evidence based diagnosticassessments in line with NICE guidance to children and young people under 18where there are concerns regarding Autism Spectrum Conditions or AttentionDeficit Hyperactivity Disorder.

This post would suitthose who have an interest in neurodiversity, love using assessment andobservation skills to formulate complex presentations, enjoy working withchildren and young people and within a multidisciplinary team. The postprovides an opportunity to use skills in trauma informed assessment andformulation alongside diagnostic assessment tools and criteria. There are alsoopportunities to develop skills in supervision, leadership, research, teaching andtraining and service development.

The service offers a wide range of development opportunitiesand is committed to the career development of its staff. All relevant trainingwill be offered as necessary ( ADOS & supervisor training) andfurther CPD opportunities are encouraged. Clinical supervision will be offeredby one of the Senior Clinical Psychologists within the team.

The post is open to clinical psychologists who are due toqualify or have experience at a band 7 and offers career progression to a band8a once competencies applicable to that grade and job description have been met.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will be involved in all aspects of theassessment process and will be a fully integrated member of our friendly andwelcoming multidisciplinary team, working alongside our Clinical Psychologists,Speech and Language Therapists, Specialist Mental Health Practitioners,Psychiatrist and Assistant Psychologists.

The role will include:

Using high level assessment and formulationskills.

Using psychological models and theoriesalongside diagnostic criteria to understand a childs presentation.

Using observation and activity basedinteractions.

Using formal testing measures such as ADOS,cognitive assessments, QB test to better understand a childs presentation.

Supervision of assistant psychologists and otherteam members.

Contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings.

The post holder will also have the opportunity to beinvolved in shaping the future of the service.

The post holderwill provide specialist clinical psychology skills within a multidisciplinaryteam. The post holder will provide a high quality clinical service to the usersof the service.

They will providehighly specialist psychological assessment and intervention while workingcollaboratively with non-psychologist colleagues, professionals from otheragencies and carers.

They will be clinically responsible to a senior clinicalpsychologist. Clinical oversight of all work will be held by the clinical leadin the service.

The job plan willbe delivered in the services the post is based.

The post holderwill work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall frameworkof the team while observing Trust and National policies and procedures.

The post holder will provide support to Assistant Psychologists andDoctoral trainees. They will utilise research skills in audit, servicedevelopment and research relevant to the post.

To offer consultation, supervision and training when required by otheragencies involved in the psychological, emotional and behavioural well-being ofpeople referred to the service.

To provide consultation, assessment and intervention in the service.

To work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary context.

To provide assessment and treatment options for people experiencing moderate, severe and complex mental health problems .

To exercise expert clinical judgement based on the highest standards of evidence based practise.

To continually seek to expand and consolidate clinical skills using training, experience, and supervision.

To be proficient in the use of Psychometric testing appropriate to the age range.

To provide specialist risk assessment of and intervention to people who present to the service.

To follow appropriate Adult and Child Protection guidelines in all Clinical work, including close liaison with all agencies.

To liaise and consult with the wider professional network in the care of the client.

To work jointly with other team members in delivering the most appropriate clinical service to people and their families.

To exercise autonomous professional responsibility for the assessment, treatment and discharge of clients.

To communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and treatment plans of clients under their care and to effectively evaluate progress.
