Job summary

CaterhamDene Community Hospital is a 28 bedded ward providing care, physical rehabilitationand discharge planning for mainly frail older adults following an episode of acuteillness or injury.

Weare seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate registered nurse to join our friendly,dynamic, and caring multidisciplinary team. As a staff nurse you will play avital role in ensuring that our client group receive the highest standard of evidence-basednursing care.

Whetheryou are an experienced Registered Nurse, newly or recently qualified RegisteredNurse, we can support you in this very rewarding role.

This role is suitable for both experienced and newly registered nurses. We have a supportive Preceptorship Programme for new nursing registrants.

Main duties of the job

Youwill be providing evidence-based nursing care to patients requiring physicalrehabilitation to help them to regain their independence following an acuteillness, sub-acute illness, or surgery.

Youwill be customer focused, caring and compassionate and provide a high standardof nursing care and collaborative team work to promote independence anddischarge planning. Working in partnership with the patient, their familyand/or carers to support this process.

Youwill support quality and safety by practicing according to professionalstandards, taking responsibility for delegating to others and be a role modelfor junior members of staff and student nurses.

Job responsibilities

The post holderwill play a key role within the ward management team to provide a quality,patient centred and supportive environment where patients can reach their fullrehabilitation potential. The postholder will contribute to the promotion of an environment which encourages andsupports the development of nursing practice.The post holder will be expected to utilise a variety of strategies tocommunicate effectively with family/carers, the multidisciplinary team, otherdepartments within the organisation and pertinent agencies outside theorganisation.

With support fromsenior nursing staff, the post holder will be able to demonstrate clinicalskills to provide the highest standard of individualised patient care. Acting as a role model, the post holder willprovide clinical leadership in the ward area.

Level 1 Registered Nurse [adults] with a valid NMC registration or awaiting NMC PIN. Evidence of continuing professional development Practice Supervisor/Assessor or willingness to undertake.

Experience of nursing older adults. Experience of working within a multi-disciplinary team. Experience of rehabilitation nursing.

Ability to work within a multi-disciplinary team. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Computer literate and willingness to work with electronic systems. Possess an interest in rehabilitation nursing. Willingness to professionally develop in line with service developments. Ability to reflect on practice. Ability to work unsupervised. Ability to work in partnership with other community services. Administration of intravenous antibiotics or willingness to undertake. Phlebotomy skills or willingness to undertake.
