An exciting opportunity has arisen in theatres at the Queen Margaret Hospital, Dunfermline, for a band 7 Theatre SCN/Clinical Lead. This is an ideal opportunity for an enthusiastic and highly motivated staff member to further develop their leadership skills. You will have theatre experience at a senior level and be able to demonstrate on-going professional development.

This fast-paced day surgery and short stay theatre suite offers varied surgical specialities that include Maxillo Facial, ENT, Minor Plastic Surgery, General Surgery, Breast Surgery, Elective Orthopaedics, Trauma, Gynaecology, Urology & Ophthalmology,

You will provide professional and clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team, and will be responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and effective management of the operating theatre by planning and implementing patient centred care, and for the setting of standards of care. You will be primarily responsible for ensuring all theatre lists run smoothly by coordinating the suite on a daily basis and be responsible for monitoring daily theatre efficiency.

You should be RGN or ODP qualified and possess excellent communication skills, have the ability to work cohesively within the multidisciplinary team and have evidence of strong leadership and negotiation skills.

Hours will primarily be worked Monday to Friday; however, you may need to meet the needs of the service

NHS Scotland is reducing their full-time working week from 37.5 to 37 hours per week from 1 April 2024 but with no change in pay. This reduction will also be applied pro rata for part time staff. This advert and any subsequent offer/contract of employment therefore reflects the new working hours. However, as not all service areas will be able to adopt the 37 hour working week immediately from 1 April 2024, you may be required to work up to an additional 30 minutes per week for a temporary period for which you would be paid until the service you are working in changes rosters or working patterns to accommodate the new reduced working week.
