Job Purpose:

Supported by Kibble’s Night Service Managers you will work across Kibble’s Residential and Community Based Services. You will have responsibility for the safety and well-being of our young people throughout the night. This can be a vulnerable time for our young people and as such you will have the skills and abilities to be able to support our young people through times of crisis.

Main Duties:

  • To encourage the personal development of each young person and, where appropriate, assisting in Unit routines, activities etc. with Unit colleagues.
  • To work as part of a designated staff team, operating at all times within Centre and Unit Policies.
  • To participate, as appropriate, in the unit communication system. This may be verbally e.g. at staff handovers, meetings, by telephone etc. or in written form e.g. log books, diaries and, where appropriate, case notes.
  • To work within appropriate personal and professional boundaries, ensuring all information regarding young people and staff is treated with appropriate levels of confidentiality and sensitivity.
  • To provide a safe environment for all young people and staff by being vigilant at all times, complying with Health and Safety guidelines, and maintaining appropriate checks on young people and the unit environment.
  • To undertake any other relevant duties as directed by a senior staff member.


Key Skills and Experience:


  • A range of life experiences.
  • Able to form professional relationships with young people and staff.
  • Able to maintain a consistent, professional, and non-confrontational approach at all times.
  • A basic understanding of the issues confronting young people within Kibble.
  • Good communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Self-awareness.
  • Previous experience of working with young people is desirable.
  • A flexible approach to working is essential as the Centre operates 24/7, 365 days per year.
  • Possess a full driving licence and be willing and able to drive school transport is desirable.


Safe Crisis Training (SCM)

Successful candidates will require a level of fitness to be able to carry out SCM. Please see note section below (4) for further information.

  1.   3. The successful candidate will be subject to PVG Scheme Membership. Having previous convictions will not automatically disbar you from working at Kibble (with the exception of offences against children or other vulnerable groups) and every case is taken on an individual basis.
  4. The successful candidate will be required to undertake Safe Crisis Management (SCM) training and will require a level of fitness to be able to carry out SCM. The successful candidate must be able to participate fully in this training and be prepared to put this training into practice. The SCM training will consist of two days theory and two days physical training. The successful candidate must complete this training in full within four weeks of an agreed start date. Should the candidate for any reason fail any aspect of the SCM training (theory, physical or both parts), an additional two weeks will be given to pass.
