Trust Registrar in General Medicine

Working within a team of specialist Consultants and junior doctors in training, the post holder will be expected to initiate and provide sound clinical/medical practices to patients admitted to the Medicine division, whilst supporting patients' family and friends demonstrating the patient is the central focus of care. The post involves participation in the on-call rota.The post holder will be predominately based at Basingstoke and North Hampshire Hospital but should also be prepared to work at any HHFT site if required.

Main duties of the job

Clerk and post take administration writing in patients notes Undertake patient reviews Investigating and initiating medical management Patient assessment Drug prescription+o Discharge administration Promptly update patient systems Attend clinics Attend Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT) meetings.o Facilitate daily board round with MD To Triage to medical teams/acute physicians as appropriate Trouble shoot patients on the wardo Conduct ward rounds Provide supervision and management to junior doctors Take part in the medical on-call shift system. MBBS or equivalent GMC Registration Basic Life Support Management of Medical Admissions at ST3+ level MRCP Part 1 and 2

Desirable

Advanced Life Support MRCP Evidence of continuing professional updating Awards/distinctions whilst study for 1st or 2nd Degree

Experience & Knowledge

Experience of teaching medical students Appropriate specialty experience Experience of working within the NHS
