Rugby Ontario is actively searching for a talented and ambitious individual who is passionate about the field of sport management, digital media and communications and wants to apply their knowledge and experience and support a vision of Rugby for All.

Reporting to the CEO, the Coordinator, Digital Media & Communications, is an integral role that supports the delivery of key parts of Rugby Ontario’s Strategic Plan. Working in collaboration with all departments, this role will provide direction and support to Rugby Ontario’s communications and marketing portfolio’s day-to-day operations.

Compensation & Benefits

Upon joining the team, you will receive;

· $42,-$47, per annum, based on experience;

· Full-time salaried position, standard business hours (9 am – 5 pm). The nature and scope of this position may, from time to time, require, particularly through extended periods of the year, the need for work to be scheduled outside regular business hours, including evenings and weekends.

· Hybrid work environment – remote four days a week, in office minimum of one day a week in the Rugby Ontario office (subject to change).

What you’ll be doing

The Coordinator helps drive internal and external digital media and communications functions, including coordinating the website, social media presence, and content creation for various initiatives. This position focuses on utilizing Rugby Ontario’s growing digital media presence to support the continual improvement and enhancement of the positive image of rugby in Ontario and broader member engagement.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

· Support the development of communication and promotional strategies and tactics focused on driving interest in Rugby Ontario’s and its member clubs’ programs and initiatives and increasing awareness of and participation in the sport of rugby.

· Implement and evaluate strategic communication plans that align with Rugby Ontario’s strategic plan, meaningfully promoting the organization’s vision of “Rugby for All”.

· Collaborate with all Rugby Ontario departments to develop a consistent approach to digital media and communications content to support the promotion and awareness of various provincial programs and initiatives.

· Set goals and measurable objectives to enhance the profile of partners, athletes, coaches, match officials, stakeholders and administrators within the Ontario rugby community.

· Coordinate Rugby Ontario’s website, email marketing and social media presence (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).

· Monitor the effectiveness of Rugby Ontario’s website and social media accounts and continually seek opportunities to increase engagement and traffic.

· Create digital media graphics, video content, communications and promotional materials for marketing campaigns, e-newsletters, major competitions and special events across various platforms (web, social and email).

· Develop news items, press releases and key messaging in support of Rugby Ontario’s internal and external communication needs. This may include organizing press events and coordinating media requests.

· Leverage current relationships while fostering new opportunities with key media journalists, personalities and stakeholders, driving awareness of Rugby Ontario and the Ontario rugby community.

· Work in support of the Chief Executive Officer and other staff to develop presentations, program creative materials, sponsorship decks and other branded content.

· Explore and research new digital media platforms that can help expand the Rugby Ontario brand (e.g. Tik Tok, Discord, etc.).

· Other duties as assigned.

Desired Experience & Qualifications:

· Post-secondary degree or experience working in a related field (e.g. Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Graphic Design / Content Creation), or an equivalent combination of education, certification, and experience.

· Several years’ experience in a communication, marketing and/or digital media role, preferably in sports. 

· Strong knowledge and experience with digital and social media, including website management, social media applications and other tools to measure and report on communications impact.

· An advanced understanding of and experience with creative writing, graphic design, photography and content creation using a variety of tools and applications (proficiency using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva and Final Cut Pro).

· Knowledgeable in the areas of branding, public relations, advertising, promotional initiatives and communications planning. 

· Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with diverse groups of people and stakeholder groups, including but not limited to member clubs, Branches, committees and external service providers.

· Strong collaboration, relationship building/teamwork and initiative-taking qualities, complimented by excellent organizational and time-management skills.

· Demonstrated high-level project management skills, including an ability to analyze, plan, monitor, evaluate and prioritize.

· Experience in working creatively within a limited budget.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

· A current, clear criminal record check for the vulnerable sector is required.

· Valid Driver’s Licence and the ability/willingness to travel.

Nice-to-haves

· Knowledge of Rugby Ontario and the Ontario rugby community is an asset but not essential

· Sports experience and an understanding of a club and member-based sports system an asset.
