Job summary

Do you enjoy working in an exciting and challenging environment? Based at the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff, we are looking for a dedicated CAR-T /BMT Coordinator to provide essential administrative support to the clinical and medical teams within South Wales Blood and Marrow Transplant Service. Please note working hours will be 9am - 5pm Monday -Friday.

The post holder will need to meet tight deadlines, collate data and maintain high standards relating to administrative processes. They will need to be able to work within a team effectively and efficiently, and will be required to share sensitive information with clinical teams and managers on a daily basis.

Main duties of the job

The role of the BMT and CAR-T Coordinator is to provide comprehensive administrative support to the BMT (blood and marrow transplantation) and CAR-T (chimeric antigen receptor T-cell) treatment programmes at the University Hospital of Wales. This includes patient-level and service-level coordination.

The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate excellent communication skills and IT ability. The post holder must be able to use their own initiative and also work efficiently as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Experience

Essential

Experience working in an office environment. Experience in dealing with complex, sensitive situations, demonstrating empathy and understanding. Experience working in the NHS.

Desirable

Experience working with external stakeholders/clients. Experience of taking formal minutes.

Skills

Essential

Computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite, and demonstrable ability to master new applications and platforms. Recording information with a high level of accuracy. Able to plan and organise a number of complex activities involving analysis of a number of issues. Able to develop and maintain effective working relationships within the team, across the UHB, and with third parties in the interests of service delivery.

Desirable

Use of UHB-specific computer systems including PMS, CAV Clinical Portal, and Welsh Clinical Portal. Database skills, and data analysis, interpretation and presentation skills. Able to plan and draft highly complex documents including SOPs and other controlled documents, reports, and presentations.

Special Knowledge

Essential

Knowledge of GDPR and related data protection principles.

Desirable

Knowledge of haematological malignancies and associated terminology.

Personal Qualities

Essential

Able to use own initiative to manage a complex and demanding workload autonomously. Highly organised and efficient. Committed to quality of service provided.

Other

Desirable

Welsh speaker. Ability to travel between sites in a timely manner.
