Job summary

We are looking for reliable, flexible and well-motivated individuals who take pride in their work, to work as Domestics Assistants at Gateshead. Main job purpose and duties are focused around the cleaning of the patient environment. Duties may also include food and beverage service in the patient environment.

Main duties of the job

Complete daily, weekly, and regular cleaning to include cleaning of all floor surfaces, paintwork, internal glass, fixtures and fittings as defined by QE Facilities Policy, Procedures and Service Level Agreements within the designated area(s) Organise and remove waste materials from designated areas complying with defined waste procedures for both domestic and clinical waste Carry out sanitary cleaning in all wet areas to include toilets, basins, baths, and shower cubicles. Maintain, and replenish cleaning materials to all designated areas to include linen in selected locations Respond to requests for remedial cleaning after incidents/ accidents in a timely fashion Report building defects to ensure remedial action is taken prepare patient area for service of patient meals, collection of cutlery and crockery following patient meal service the washing up of all items and storage at ward level preparation and serving of patient beverages under the guidance of nursing staff Linen change in on-call rooms and residential accommodation curtain change in all clinical areas.

QE Facilities (QEF) is a wholly owned subsidiary company of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust (GHNT), based in the North East of England.

We provide a range of non- clinical services to GHNT and other NHS organisations. Our services include: estates, facilities services, procurement, medical engineering and devices, endoscopy decontamination and sterile services, transport, out-patient pharmacy, and prevention & management of violence & aggression training (PMVA).

In addition we provide consultancy services, advising clients on all aspects of establishing a subsidiary company within an NHS body to the provision of VAT compliance advice.

QE Facilities work to their own Terms and Conditions and these are not the same as Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust Terms and Conditions. This is not an Agenda for Change Pay Rate.

QEF is a separate legal entity that operates along commercial lines, with separate governance arrangements and the ability to recruit its own staff on its own Terms & Conditions to provide greater flexibility. QEF has been established on the solid foundations of the NHS and is able to provide a flexible, proactive range of high quality services, delivered on the lines of a commercial organisation.

We do not hold a sponsorship licence and are unable to offer employment under any sponsorship arrangement.

Job responsibilities

To ensure that premises managed by QE Facilities Ltd are presented in such a manner as to promote an image of high standards of cleanliness, order, and patient/ client well-being. Specifically those areas within the job holders responsibility are clean; maintenance needs are noted and reported; and that support is provided to ensure that patient and staff environments are maintained at an optimal level to enhance the patient experience.

Patient and client interactions which portray a professional, supportive and caring service Constructive team working and participation including multi-disciplinary team relationships( Personal organisation and time management with strong attention to detail Ability to work independently and use initiative, while being part of a team.

Desirable

Knowledge of the application of all regulatory and legislative requirements required to ensure a Healthy & Safe environment including: Infection Prevention and Control; Safe Working; Lone Working; COSHH; Food Safety and Manual Handling; Patient and Customer Care Cleaning procedures and protocols
