CPI has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Process Engineer to join a growing engineering team with a broad range of interesting and challenging projects, including the design and build of CPI’s new Novel Food Innovation Centre, a biotech piloting facility which will be used to help develop the next generation of alternative foods and bring them to market.

We are looking for an individual that possesses significant technical expertise in Chemical / Process engineering design, ideally with a strong knowledge of Biotechnology process and facility design. You will work alongside the balance of the Process Engineering team to provide technical expertise, capability and input to the delivery of a broad range of interesting and challenging projects, helping companies to develop and scale up the next generation of processes across multiple industry and technology areas.

You will act as technical lead in medium / large scale projects and projects of increasing complexity, and will help to guide and develop the more junior engineers in the team through sharing of knowledge and provision of technical support on smaller projects where they may be leading.

You will draw upon a broad range of technical know-how to deliver high quality process engineering outputs against agreed time and budget constraints, whilst providing expert advice and guidance to a range of stakeholders across the organisation. You will be viewed as an authority in process engineering within the company, offering innovative solutions and contributing extensively to development activities.

To identify new technical developments and trends, translate these into building blocks for opportunities within the technology team, initiating the creation of (new) technological innovations/​applications. To actively contribute to the delivery of engineering projects, conducting Front End Engineering Design studies at various levels including engagement with other disciplines and external partners / vendors as required. To build, maintain and exploit a network of relevant external stakeholders, customers, partners, research organisations and authorities, to represent the technology team as a credible specialist in networks, identifying opportunity for future projects and developments. To generating engineering calculations, drawings and reports to a high technical standard as required in order to complete projects against agreed time and budget constraints. Taking a leading role in some projects, supported by the balance of the engineering team as required.

The person we are seeking

The successful candidate will be educated to at least HNC or Foundation Degree level (or equivalent) in a Chemical/​Biochemical Engineering discipline plus extensive industrial experience at senior level. You will possess significant technical expertise in chemical / process engineering design, build and commissioning, as well as compelling evidence of complex technical problem solving. It would be advantageous if you had experience in sterile design for biological processes, specifically fermentation.
