Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 4 Posture and Mobility Technician to join our innovative and supportive team. The role is within the South Wales Posture and Mobility Service, we provide a wide range of Posture and Mobility equipment, including manual and powered wheelchairs as well as buggies to our service users with varied medical conditions and complex postural needs across South Wales. The technician role involves working within the Clinical Team alongside posture and mobility clinicians and other technicians to assess for and fit complex postural mobility equipment. This involves a mixture of technical and clinical work, face to face interaction with our service users and driving of a works vehicle. You will be contributing to improving the independence, function and posture of adults and children with complex needs across South Wales.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Main duties of the job

o Have relevant experience as a Therapies assistant/technician or previous experience working for a Posture and Mobility Service.

o Use their technical skills and postural knowledge to provide and fit manual and powered wheelchairs, optimising comfort, independence and posture for the service user under the guidance of qualified, registered Posture and Mobility Therapists.

o Fit moderately complex postural equipment, under the guidance of registered professionals.

o Assist registered professionals in the provision of pressure redistributing equipment for adults and children with complex needs.

o Assist registered professionals in the assessment of service users for provision of both manual and powered wheelchairs.

o Work independently as required, feeding back relevant information to registered professionals.

o Carry out administrative duties as per department's guidelines.

o Participate in learning opportunities.

o Assist senior staff in training provision, including to students, referrers, service users and junior staff members.

o Adhere to professional code of ethics and professional conduct.

o Understand and adhere to local and national policies regarding health and safety involving both service users and staff.

o Other appropriate tasks as delegated by registered professionals.
