An alternative provision school based in the Wirral are looking for an experienced teaching assistant. They are a nurturing and inclusive environment dedicated to supporting children who have found mainstream education challenging. They provide tailored educational experiences to students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs), ensuring they receive the care and attention they need to reach their full potential. Their dedicated team works collaboratively to create a supportive and engaging learning atmosphere where every child can thrive.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Support children with special educational needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).
  • Assist in implementing EHCPs, ensuring that each student’s unique needs are met.
  • Work closely with teachers to deliver individualized learning plans and adapt educational materials.
  • Provide emotional and behavioural support, employing de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviour.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and achievement.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, and external professionals to ensure a cohesive approach to each child's development.

Ideal Candidate:

  • A dedicated and compassionate individual with a genuine passion for working with children with special educational needs.
  • Experience in a similar role, preferably within an alternative provision or special educational needs setting.
  • Strong understanding of ASD and ADHD, with the ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Proficient in de-escalation techniques and managing challenging behaviour in a calm and effective manner.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient nature, committed to making a positive difference in each child's educational journey.
  • Work in a dynamic and rewarding environment where no two days are the same.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
