The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre NHS Foundation Trust provides highly-specialist cancer care for a population of million people across Cheshire & Merseyside, North Wales, the Isle of Man and parts of Lancashire.

In June 2020, we opened Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - Liverpool, our spectacular new cancer hospital in the heart of Liverpool's Knowledge Quarter, providing state-of-the-art facilities as part of a £162m investment. Alongside our flagship hospital in Liverpool, we also have two other main cancer centres:

Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - Wirral, providing outpatient cancer treatment and supportive care on the Clatterbridge Health Campus in Bebington, Wirral Clatterbridge Cancer Centre - Aintree, our radiotherapy treatment centre on the Aintree University Hospital site

Together, working across three sites and operating specialist chemotherapy clinics in four of Merseyside's district hospitals, we deliver a comprehensive range of inpatient care, advanced radiotherapy, chemotherapy and other systemic anti-cancer therapies including gene therapies and immunotherapies.

We also deliver a pioneering Treatment at Home and Work service, are the only facility in the UK providing low-energy proton beam therapy to treat rare eye cancers, and host the region's Teenage and Young Adult Unit.

Main duties of the job

We are looking for an enthusiastic Band 5 nurse to work at our CCC - Wirral site in the Delamere Day Case Unit.

As we deliver treatments in sector hubs and clinicsacross the Wirral and Liverpool, there will an element of cross cover required during training and once training has been completed. This will include travelling to all of our peripheral sites:

Job responsibilities

Responsibility to ensure all nursing care is carried out as determined by the individual patients treatment plan. Responsibility to ensure SACT treatment assessments are regularly updated reflecting evidence based practice. Responsibility to provide accurate information to patients and relatives regarding treatment and side effects. Responsibility to ensure that all patient information is collected and documented accurately and in real time, during a span of duty. Responsibility to work as an autonomous practitioner as well as part of a team. Responsibility to provide accurate reports both verbally and electronically. Responsibility to ensure that all nursing policies, procedures and protocols within the clinical environment are adhered to. Responsibility for the safe handling and administration of all SACT, supportive treatments and blood products according to policy. Responsibility to work across the Directorates sector hub model to ensure safe staffing levels. Responsibility to ensure that all radiation guidelines are adhered to. Responsibility to ensure compliance with all Infection, Prevention and Control policies are strictly adhered to. Responsibility in collaboration with the senior nursing team to make treatment and or deferral decisions based on the patients SACT assessment, presentation and blood results. Responsibility to escalate any patient safety issues to include safeguarding concerns to the relevant teams. Responsibility to inform the appropriate medical teams regarding a change in a patients treatment pathway. Knowledge & Experience

Essential

Previous nursing experience Knowledge of various drugs and their interactions and side effects. Knowledge of NMC code of conduct Previous nursing experience ? Experience of a hospital setting ? Experience within a medical setting

Desirable

UKONS SACT Passport. NM6 995 Chemotherapy Administration and Care. NM6 999 Foundations in Cancer Care NM6 998 Cancer Treatments and Care NM6 996 Chemotherapy Principles and Care Previous Oncology/Haemato-oncology experience. Cannulation/Phlebotomy.

Qualifications

Essential

1st level registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Evidence of continued professional development In date PIN number with the Nursing and Midwifery Council.
