Birmingham Asian Resource Centre (BARC) is seeking Business Development & Funding Officer (Consultant) We are a registered charity in operation since 1977. Based in the heart of Lozells, Birmingham.To lead the organisation’s strategic development ensuring it meets its aims objectives and responsibilities to funders and members. To provide overall strategic management and leadership of Birmingham Asian Resource Centre using an entrepreneurial approach and working.

2. Overarching Duties:

• To establish and implement a fundraising strategy for Birmingham Asian Resource Centre that will exploit the potential of the organisation to achieve annual revenue income targets.
• To develop strategies for capital projects and developments.
• To develop new income streams through determining, developing and implementing strategies to nurture income generation.
• To maximise the income from trusts, foundations and grant giving bodies through building and nurturing existing relationships and development of new ones.
• To undertake the strategic development of BARC, including business and financial planning.
• To secure funding for the long term sustainability of BARC.
• To instil value for money on resources and expenditure,
• To ensure the effective communication between the Board of Trustees and BARC staff through attendance and presentation of quarterly reports at Committee meetings.
• To work with the Board, project manager to be responsible for the coordination of the project and its financial management.
• To undertake any other duties as deemed appropriate, which are commensurate with the nature of the post.
• To lead on the strategic development of Birmingham Asian Resource Centre, prepare reports for Board meetings and work with the Board in developing income generation activities for the organisation.

3. Person Specification

Skills
• Excellent written and spoken English.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Excellent interpersonal, motivation and leadership skills.
• Good working knowledge of IT programmes.
• Excellent analytical and evaluation skills.
• Excellent business development skills
• Good financial management skills.
• Ability to develop good working relationships with local, strategic and mainstream organisations.
• Excellent team worker should be committed to the welfare and development of the capacity of women and men of all ages, faiths and cultures.

Knowledge and Experience
• At least 5 years recent or current community or voluntary sector experience.
• Proven substantial fundraising experience.
• Proven business development.
• Experience of successful time limited business development.
• Knowledge and/or understanding of local issues and community.
• Knowledge of emerging regional and local agenda and its effects on the community and voluntary sector.
• Experience of supporting volunteer representatives on panels, forums and committees.

4. Special Conditions

• This post will require you to adhere to BARC’s confidentiality policy regarding financial and personnel issues.
• This post will require you to undergo a DBS check.
• This post will require you attend special events and meetings or activities as necessary on weekends and evening or as requested by the Board of Trustees.
• The job will require you to work at various locations for which there will be no additional remuneration other than incurred expenditure.
• The job description gives an outline of key duties and is not intended to be an exhaustive list of task. The post holder may be asked from time to time to take on other responsibilities as reasonably requested by the chair of trustees.
