The pharmacy clinical trials service at Barts Health has seen significant investment over the last few years and the evolving team of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and assistants manage an ever expanding portfolio of clinical trials. We have an exciting opportunity for a pharmacy technician to join the team and develop skills within clinical research.
We are looking for a self-motivated and enthusiastic person who has proven organisational and communication skills and exceptional attention to detail. You will be responsible for the setup and maintenance of trials being run at Barts Health, and ensure they are being managed according to the regulatory requirements for research.
This is a permanent position based at St Bartholomew’s Hospital.
The role is full time, Monday-Friday (with additional weekend and bank holiday commitments). Full training and development opportunities will be provided.
Main duties of the job
The principal objective of this role is to ensure the timely set up, effective maintenance and delivery of all clinical trials on site. The post holder will be expected to:
·Manage the efficient and smooth running of processes associated with clinical trials at the dedicated site
·Support the pharmacy clinical trials team to ensure all documentation including standard operating procedures are relevant, in date and according to GCP/GMP requirements
·Develop and maintain systems consistent with GCP and local requirements

Qualifications
Essential criteria
•Level 3 Diploma in Principles and practice for pharmacy technicians or equivalent. •Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) • Accuracy Checking Pharmacy Technician (ACPT) qualification
Desirable criteria
•Specialist technical / Management modules or equivalent experience in Aseptic preparation •Practice Supervisor, Train the trainer or equivalent qualification •ILM Level 3 Leadership and Management qualification or equivalent
Experience
Essential criteria
•Proven experience of good performance in previous posts. •Previous significant experience of working in clinical trials
Desirable criteria
•Previous significant experience of working in clinical trials •Previous experience of working in Aseptics
Knowledge
Essential criteria
•Demonstrated knowledge of all aspects of GCP, GMP and QA and clinical trial legislation •Understanding of GPhC Revalidation requirements •Knowledge of medicines management systems at ward level •Up to date knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmacy practice, e.g., controlled drugs, Health and Safety at Work •Up to date knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmacy practice, e.g., controlled drugs, Health and Safety at Work •Knowledge of drugs, side effects and where to find further information •Knowledge of Safe and Secure Handling of Medicines requirements •Understanding of the importance of adherence to SOPs and legislation •Demonstrates a good understanding of patient safety initiatives
