Long-Term Teachers partners with fantastic special educational needs schools who are seeking educators who are confident in leading a class to step in during staff absences. This position offers flexible hours, with the potential for long-term opportunities should you wish to progress your career. 


 

These schools support students with a range of special educational needs and disabilities, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, PMLD, MLD and SLD. You will typically be working with students of secondary school age however, students may be working below their expected level, so a broad knowledge of the national curriculum would be beneficial.


 

Key responsibilities:


 

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons: Ensure continuity in student learning by delivering high-quality, pre-planned lessons
  • Engage students: Keep students focused and engaged with their work, especially those with additional needs
  • Collaborate: Work closely with support staff to foster a safe, supportive and enjoyable learning environment.
  • Maintain behaviour standards: Uphold the school’s behaviour management policies to create a positive learning environment.
  • Provide feedback: For supply work, offer valuable feedback to the returning teacher to ensure seamless transitions


 

While formal teaching qualifications are not required, the ideal candidate will have previous experience working in schools. A background in youth coaching or support work is also highly valued.
