A Remote Sensing Analyst role, at Forest Research (FR), encompassing a wide range of analytical and technical activities, taking part in a variety of work, providing opportunity to acquire new skills and develop your career.

The IFOS (Inventory, Forecasting and Operational Support) Remote Sensing Analyst will be part of the Forest Information and Statistics Team within IFOS. The Forest Information and Statistics Team includes the team that is responsible for supporting the National Forest Inventory field work schedule, the production and maintenance of the NFI woodland map, Official Statistics and NFI data analysis and reporting. The Remote Sensing Team is a new team and will be responsible for delivering our remote sensing commitments, and building and developing our remote sensing offering.

This role encompasses a wide range of analytical and technical activities, and you will take part in a variety of work, providing opportunity for acquiring new skills and developing your career. This is an exciting time to join the remote sensing team in FR as there is a great deal of interest in remote sensing and how we utilise new technologies within IFOS to deliver a better service to our customers.

The IFOS Remote Sensing Analyst is a key role which supports the Forest Research’s work programme. We are seeking an individual to provide technical knowledge and skill to the analysis of remote sensing data in order to help FR effectively achieve remote sensing objectives and deliverables.

The role will be based in the Northern Research Station, Roslin, EH25 9SY. Blended working gives you the option to work some of the week from home, and some from the workplace.
