Due to continued demand for MSK First Contact Physiotherapists within our local Primary Care Networks, we are pleased to be advertising for further FCP clinicians to join our ever expanding MSK service.

Successful candidates will have the unique opportunity to work within a Primary care setting, managing patients at the beginning of the MSK pathway and embedding the FCP role within your allocated Primary care practices, whilst also remaining fully integrated with our wider MSK service. 

You will be welcomed into our diverse group of FCP's who work across York and the wider area. We organise weekly Clinical Governance sessions and provide ongoing clinical and personal support. Our Clinical Governance sessions are fully interactive with regular Complex Case Discussions, Critical Appraisal Club, Peer Supervision, Live Supervision, Radiology MDT and varied IST sessions.

We work in partnership with various local PCN's within multiple areas including, South Hambleton and Ryedale, Tadcaster, Selby and York. We currently have vacancy in Selby Town but if you would like to discuss future opportunities in other areas, please contact the recruiting manager.

Successful candidates will already be working in a Specialist MSK Physiotherapist role, at either Band 6 or Band 7 level or above, with a motivation towards providing patient centred clinical care and education at the very start of our MSK pathways.

Main duties of the job

As part of the FCP team you will be responsible for delivering this innovative model of care within Primary Care.

As a First Contact Practitioner working in the Primary Care Network, you will be the first point of contact for GP surgery patients and MSK patients will be streamed by GP reception staff to the FCP clinic directly.

The successful candidate will be expected to provide frontline expert screening, assessment and diagnosis of Musculoskeletal conditions to ensure patients are supported to self-manage or receive support from the most appropriate clinical pathway.

You will be expected to assess, investigate if indicated and manage patients with musculoskeletal problems diverting to the Community MSK service as needed. You will be required to become fully integrated within your Primary Care Network (PCN) and work as a key member of the Primary Care Team.

Training and governance will be provided weekly within the MSK Service. This will ensure a supportive environment for all team members to flourish, enable clinical supervision and provide comprehensive opportunities for further development.

There will be opportunity to complete a PGCert in MSK practice which will provide accreditation aligned with the HEE FCP roadmap. This enables you to enjoy the professional and developmental benefits of belonging to a large MSK Physiotherapy department.

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria

HCPC Registration Evidence of relevant MSK specialist post graduate training Have completed a variety of postgraduate courses and experience of working alongside specialist clinicians within relevant clinical specialty Willingness to undertake appropriate agreed further training as required e.g., PGCert for MSK Practitioner

Desirable criteria

Relevant validated clinical courses Relevant Post-Grad MSc modules in FCP or MSK

Experience & Knowledge Required

Essential criteria

Broad range of post graduate experience at senior level in relevant clinical specialty. Evidence of a structured personal development plan Specialist experience of working in clinical specialist area, underpinned by clinical and theoretical training Counselling / coaching experience / Patient suport skills Evidence of clinical, organisation and managerial knowledge including the to undertake more complex problem solving in these areas Experience of working with patients who have multi-pathology presentations Contribution to education of qualified staff, patients, and visitors Evidence of Peer Review and supervision

Minimum of 5-6 years postgraduate clinical experience. Experience at band 7 level in relevant specialIty Advanced knowledge of broad range of conditions within clinical specialty
