English Teacher - Teach GCSE in Small Class Sizes

Are you a qualified English teacher looking to make a real difference? We are seeking an experienced English teacher to work with students completing their GCSEs in a specialist school for students with social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) difficulties. With smaller class sizes than in mainstream settings, you will have the opportunity to provide focused, individual support to help students achieve their academic goals.

About Us:

Our school supports students with Anxiety, Depression and Suicidal Tendancies, offering a calm and structured environment where students can focus on their learning. Using a trauma-informed approach, we provide individualised support, ensuring that every student has the opportunity to succeed academically.

Role Overview:
  • Teach English at GCSE Level: Plan and deliver engaging English lessons to help students successfully complete their GCSE exams.
  • Small Class Sizes: Teach in a quieter environment with fewer students, allowing for more personalised attention and targeted support.
  • No SEMH Experience Necessary: While experience working with SEMH students is a plus, it is not required. We are looking for someone with strong English teaching experience to GCSE level.
  • Trauma-Informed Approach: Work with students in a sensitive, supportive way, understanding their emotional needs while delivering high-quality academic instruction.
  • Collaboration: Partner with a team of teaching assistants, mental health professionals, and colleagues to ensure each student is fully supported in their academic and emotional journey.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Qualified English Teacher: You must hold QTS and have experience teaching English to GCSE level.
  • Passionate about Education: A strong commitment to helping students succeed academically, particularly those who may require more individualised support.
  • Adaptable and Patient: Able to tailor lessons to the needs of students with SEMH challenges while maintaining a positive and encouraging learning environment.
  • Collaborative: A team player who can work effectively with teaching assistants, specialists, and parents to support student success.
  • No SEMH Experience Required: While experience with SEMH is beneficial, it is not essential. We provide the necessary support and training to help you thrive in this role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
