The successful applicant will be the local building surveying lead working alongside an established team of like-minded and similarly motivated cost and project managers who have a passion for innovation and delivering cutting edge solutions for an existing client base.
As an Associate you will be an independent person delivering a wide variety of more complex professional and higher value contract services for public and private clients. You will be responsible for service delivery working with other AECOM team members from other parts of the business. There will be a focus on establishing and managing client relationships and business development alongside integrating, growing and mentoring a new team.
Job Duties
- Lead on individual Building Surveying, Technical Adviser, Project Management, and Contract Administration commissions.
- Client Account Management to develop business with existing clients and confidence to win new work.
- Prepare fee bids and assist other growth managers in business development.
- Mentoring and developing Graduate Building Surveyors and other team members.
- Comply with all Project Delivery and Quality Assurance procedures with an emphasis of continuous improvement and identifying opportunities to deliver efficiencies.
- Developing client briefs and scopes of services.
- Financial, commercial and risk management of fee based activities from project inception through to completion on your own projects within a multi sector client base.
- Fully involved in or matrix management of others to produce drawings, specifications and tender documents.
- Survey and Report writing for the full range of typical core Building Surveying services.
- Undertaking Construction monitoring/ NEC Supervisor/ Clerk of Works roles.
Experience Required
- Experience of working with and building relationships with fellow professionals and Clients.
- Previous management of sub consultants and contractors.
- Strong JCT contract administration.
- Ability to travel for short periods for work delivery.
- Act as a mentor for team members.
- Previous experience as a mentor for team members seeking professional chartership.

You will be engaged with projects such as coordinating building condition and planned maintenance/acquisition surveys or acting as technical adviser for new build or net zero carbon refurbishments working for clients with individual assets or an entire estate portfolio.
We have incredible reach back into our organisation to support our national building surveying service’s needs. We regularly team up with our colleagues in engineering, design, Environment Social and Governance (ESG), cost management and other disciplines to deliver for our clients.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Chartered Building Surveyor (RICS or MIOB) with at least 3 years post qualification experience or equivalent.
- Extensive experience in all core Building Surveying work areas especially condition surveys, feasibility reports, design and contract administration/project management.
- Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams.
- Excellent client and team interpersonal skills.
Preferred Experience/ Qualifications:
- NEC3/4 Supervisor experience desirable but not essential.
- Previously managed and/or been involved in asset surveys on larger survey programmes, working with various technology packages to meet client requirements.
- Financially manages a number of projects, taking responsibility for all aspects of financial management, including invoicing clients.
- Defence sector experience would be advantageous but not essential.
