Your primaryresponsibilities will include:
Overall staffresponsibility forQuality&AssuranceManagementincluding:
o Keepingthe staff apprised on all new and upcoming changes to the CPACanada Handbook including changes in both accounting and assurancestandards. This may include internaltraining.
o Managingand overseeing compliance with the system of qualitymanagement.
o Provideinternal and external consultation onHandbook matters including complex accounting and assurancerules andrequirements.
o Performing evaluation and monitoringactivities to ensure the firm follows our system of qualitymanagement.
oInvolvement in the preparation for and evaluation ofpractice inspections.
oPerforming Engagement QualityReviews.
o Evaluationof internal firm policies working papers resources and software andmaking recommendations where improvements should be made.
Acting asa CPA Ontario PERTprogrammanagerincluding mentoring CPA students overseeing their development andcompliance with relevant standards.
Managing audit andreview engagements for both private businesses andnotforprofitorganizations. You will also be expectedto review the work ofstaff.
Meeting withBoards ofDirectors and/or Audit Committees to present audit/reviewresults.
Supervision and trainingof other staffmembers.
Otherresponsibilitiesand projects asrequired.
Breakdown of Responsibilities:
OverseeingQ/A40%
Working directly on audit or tax files30%
Managing/mentoringstaff doing auditor tax work 20%
Overseeing/mentoring CPA students10%
Asuccessful candidate will have:
CPA designation
A minimum of 5years’experience(postdesignation)in public accountingwith specific focus on audit andassurance.
Strongtechnicalknowledge and experience of the CanadianAuditing Standards CanadianAccountingStandards forPrivate Enterprises and Canadian Accounting Standards forNotForProfit Organizations.
An ability to evaluate policies procedures andresources and recommend changes and improvements.
Proactive approach tomanaging changes to accounting and assurance standards andcommunicating changes to staff.
Leadership experience including mentoring andcoaching staff to foster a culture of continuous improvement andhigh performance.
Anability to provide written and verbal training in an informal andformal setting.
Excellent analytical and problemsolvingskills.
Strong timemanagementincluding the ability to manage conflictingpriorities.
A high level of accuracy and strong attentionto details.
Excellent interpersonal andEnglishcommunicationskills (bothwritten and oral).
Teamoriented andclientfocusedthinking.
