Job summary

The post holder will predominantly work Night shifts but be flexible where needed. will work as an integral member of the ward team(s), with responsibility for the coordination of all patient facilities contained within the patient environment, ensuring that a clean, safe and comfortable environment is main elements of the job role are to ensure a safe, effective and compliant cleaning service is delivered, exercising effective leadership in managing the performance and directing Ward Assistants and that minor maintenance of the environment and equipment is undertaken and an effective Catering service is offered to patients.

The post holder will be required to work closely with nursing teams, Ward Assistants, Estates and Medical Electronic teams together with other support service departments within the Trust. The post holder will also be responsible for monitoring quality standards, compliance and take and/or facilitate appropriate action.

Main duties of the job

Communicate effectively with all accountable staff, to explain technical and practical issues (eg: cleaning techniques/procedures, manual handling);

Communicates effectively with colleagues within the wider Facilities directorate; Develops and maintains a strong working relationship with each Ward manager and Nursing teams, Develops and maintains a strong working relationship with the Infection Prevention and Control Team

Report any incidents by way of the Trust's incident reporting system

Uses email and Microsoft word to communicate with different staff groups

Develops and maintains a strong working relationship with other Housekeepers and Cleaning Team leaders

All Housekeepers are expected to be flexible in covering a colleagues absence

All Housekeepers are expected to be working operatives in times of staff shortages and undertake the duties laid down within a Ward Assistant and/or Facilities Cleaning job description, Responsible for communicating with accountable staff, either verbally, written and/or electronically;

Responsible for regularly briefing accountable staff through 1-1 meetings, team briefings.

Responsible for ensuring effective communications regarding range of services accountable for and Nursing teams. Post holder is responsible for ensuring work undertaken directly and that of accountable staff, Is efficient and cost effective and all resources are used in the best way possible; To identify any opportunity that helps reduce waste and improve operating costs
