An outstanding opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to hone and develop their skills and experience by working closely with our experienced commercial team in a fast paced, rail, civils & buildings asset management CP7 framework, in the North West & Central region.

Business Unit

A busy and fast paced rail civils & buildings asset maintenance/management (CAM & BAM) framework environment. The business unit consists of reactive, planned and preventative maintenance projects on the North West & Central rail network, with our regional offices situated in Warrington (North West) and Tamworth (Central).

The regional Asset Management framework team is responsible for the maintenance and repair of rail assets in a long-term framework, contract agreement for CP7, with works typically ranging in type, scale and value.

Projects can typically include repair and maintenance to bridges, tunnels, structures, stations, embankments, flood and weather damage, signage, de-vegetation, fencing, handrails etc.

The Role

As Quantity Surveyor you will be working within the regional Framework Delivery team, primarily dedicated to schemes within the local rail maintenance framework, but also providing support to other projects in the North West & Central region.

The works are fast paced and high in volume and requires an experienced commercial candidate with the ability to handle works in this type of fast pace environment. Day to day responsibilities would include:

•  Working with the commercial team and supporting Senior Quantity Surveyors and Commercial Managers in the commercial management of multiple sites on time and to budget.

•  Pricing and ensuring estimates are submitted accurately and on time,

•  Resolving pricing issues with clients

•  Client Liaison

•  Liaison with Site Managers to collate information on day to day remits,

•  Subcontractor management

•  Change management and early warnings

•  Contract administration (NEC/NR forms of contract)

•  CVR’s

•  Final accounting.

Requirements

To excel in this role, you will have previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor in a rail and civil engineering environment.

  • Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (HNC/HND/Degree)
  • Civil Engineering project experience (rail, bridges, roads, structures for example)
  • Rail experience (Network Rail projects or maintenance frameworks)
  • Contractual experience with NEC or bespoke NR forms of contract)
  • Experience as a Quantity Surveyor working in a contractor organisation
