GSL Education Bournemouth Branch are looking for a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 In-School Support Worker to join a school in Bournemouth. This role offers an exciting opportunity to provide tailored support to a student with special educational needs, helping them to thrive in their academic and personal development.


About the role:
The role of a 1:1 School Support Worker is to provide individualised assistance to a student in a classroom environment. This includes helping the student understand lessons, encouraging active participation in class activities, and supporting their overall learning experience.

Responsibilities of the 1:1 School Support Worker:

  • Provide one-on-one support to a student, helping them engage with lessons and school activities.
  • Implement personalised strategies to address the student's specific learning and behavioural needs.
  • Monitor the student's progress and adapt support plans as needed to encourage their growth.
  • Promote the student's confidence, independence, and social development within the classroom.

Requirements of the 1:1 School Support Worker:

  • Previous experience working with children in an educational setting is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively engage with students and collaborate with teachers.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, fostering a supportive learning environment.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to helping students succeed.
  • Good organisational skills to assist with lesson planning and classroom activities.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to meet the individual needs of the student throughout the school day.
  • Have an updated CV and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
