Alliance Norse presents Norse Groups joint venture with High Peak Borough Council and Staffordshire Moorlands District Council, providing repair and maintenance services, caretaking and cleaning services, major investment projects, and offer an improved housing repairs service to clients over the districts.
We currently have an excellent new opportunity for an Apprentice Joiner to join our team in Buxton on a full-time basis, undertaking a level 2 Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship on a 24-month basis, with opportunities for further development with Norse Group.
The Role:
Under the professional guidance of our experienced team, as an Apprentice Joiner you will undertake a formal training programme to learn and gather necessary skillset to carry out maintenance joinery works within the repairs, planned and voids contracts across Buxton and the surrounding areas. Our trades team operate predominantly on the Councils housing stock but may include non-housing, commercial and other properties as required.
Throughout your apprenticeship, your duties will consist of:
Working as a part of a team and carry out maintenance works as appropriate. Undertaking tasks under strict supervision, listening and understanding all instructions, following direction from a qualified tradesperson. Abiding by safe working practices as instructed in a safe working practice, following Risk assessments, and guidance as required under Health and Safety at work act . Working as part of an effective operational team, focused on achievement of service plans and departmental priorities. liaising with the scheduler / supervisors to ensure the delivery of work. Using the appropriate tools, materials, and equipment to carry out first and second fix site carpenter tasks including roofs. Carrying out minor repairs or modifications. Carrying out their work conforming to all current and relevant building regulations, quality standards and work instructions. Using the appropriate fixed workshop machinery, tools, materials and equipment to carry out architectural joinery tasks including setting, marking out and manufacturing timber products. Assembling and fit components to timber products.As part of your level 2 apprenticeship, you will be required to attend Buxton and Leek College when required to complete necessary modules.

A passion to create a career within the joiner/carpentry profession. GCSE Grade C / 5 or Above in English & Maths (or equivalent qualification). If this is not achieved, willingness to work towards GCSE Grade C/Functional Skill Level 4 for Maths and English, funded by the apprenticeship. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal to customers and colleagues. Demonstrate excellent time management skills Prepared to undertake additional training ie Health and safety, Any experience within a related discipline would be an advantage but is not essential.Our Offer:
